The Tas Values research project focuses on mapping the most valued places within the state of Tasmania, Australia
The purpose of this research is to understand place attachment among communities that live and/or depend on different regions of Tasmania. This research will assist regional councils and other decision-makers to make informed decisions on natural resource management, environmental policy development, and conservation management.
Currently, this project is testing the feasibility of applying the Landscape Values Mapping Platform (LVMP) in Break’O Day, Glamorgan-Spring Bay, and Huon Valley areas, with the goal of scaling the project up to all councils and regions in Tasmania. The LVMP is a public participatory geographic information system that facilitates the collection of landscape value and place attachment data.
